Los Angeles, CA, January 31, 2011
International Journalist and Activist, Tess Cacciatore returns to Los Angeles in December 2010 from a journey to Congo.

Cacciatore’s passion was fueled by all the atrocities that are happening, that she created a 9 minute documentary short to get the information out to the world and to collaborate with other nonprofits and activists who are on board to help the victims from the civil unrest that proceeds this falls upcoming 2011 election. “History seems to be repeating itself” Cacciatore shares, “and there comes a time when the horrific actions need to be stopped. Six million killed, women and children brutally raped on a daily basis and precious minerals being taken from the land to fuel even more war. We all use cell phones and computers, so this vicious cycle needs to be stopped. This situation impacts us all!”

Boston based producer Mary Schwager saw an opportunity to interview two of the Congolese activists, Leontine Lanza and Dolly Kimpiatu, who work with Cacciatore in Los Angeles. They formed a committee to raise awareness for Congo, as well as create product lines, including original music to be released on I-Tunes globally, to raise money for the cause. Schwager was instrumental to sent out a finished piece to seventy stations nationwide that promotes the mining in Congo and how it stems the rest of the abuse that is happening.

February 1, 2011 is the start date of a global community called STAND UP MOVEMENT (www.standupmovement.org) where people globally can upload their articles, videos and views on how to create a solution. The World Trust Foundation is the 501c3 nonprofit umbrella to host the program. World Trust was founded in 1994 by Cacciatore who has traveled around the world and has worked on the mission of helping women, youth and children globally for over  a decade.
